The figure below shows a mobile sky-lift that is used for maintenance and inspection work on the Öresund bridge (Copenhagen-Malmö).
The model mainly consists of low order shell elements and it was created in MEDINA. The interaction between the two concentric parts (inner and outer beam) of the telescoping arm, has been modelled by contact definitions for the sliding interfaces. The simulations were performed with the FE system PERMAS. The program FATEVAS has been used to assess the max utilization factor, ranging over 9 static load cases. The FATEVAS results, in the figure below, were processed by MEDINA post. The sizing was done on behalf of AB Sjölanders, Osby.
