The analysis and sizing was done in commission for Bombardier Transportation, Kalmar. The frontal structure of the new high speed train REGINA has been analysed with special emphasis on the plough, in front, that connects to the crash safety zone. The analyses comprised a range of static cases, e.g. ploughing of compact snow, together with simulations of crash into various kinds of obstacles at different initial velocities of the train set.
The figures below show the frontal structure, in a crash case, after 24 millisecond. The initial velocity of the train set is 110 km/h.
